1980s Raleigh Capri (410 Series) — Original Black Steel, Ready to Ride
Raleigh is one of the oldest names in cycling, and the Capri was the bike that put a lot of people on drop bars for the first time. This 410 series example has come through the decades in solid, original condition, and — unusually for a bike at this price — everything on it still works.
The gloss black paint still has depth to it, and crucially the factory decals are intact and legible — including the Raleigh 410 tubing sticker and the U.S. Cycling Team badge. Original decals are what separate a genuine survivor from a repainted bike with a story, and they cannot be convincingly replaced. Expect minor scuffs, light surface scratches, and small paint chips: exactly the character a forty-year-old steel frame should have.
Mechanically it is complete and functional throughout. The SunTour Hero 10-speed drivetrain is all there and working, the center-pull caliper brakes function properly, and it has period dual safety levers — the second set of brake levers on the flat of the bars, which make an old road bike far more approachable if you are not used to riding on the drops.
Someone before you spent money in the right places: an upgraded Matrix Air-Flex saddle (comfortable and intact, aside from two small cosmetic tears along the upper edge), Kenda gumwall tires with good tread, and alloy wheels that spin smoothly. Gumwalls on gloss black is the classic look, and alloy rims brake far better in the wet than the steel rims many bikes of this era still wear.
Why This Is a Lot of Bike for the Money
-
Original decals intact: the 410 tubing sticker and U.S. Cycling Team badge are both present and legible.
-
Everything works: drivetrain complete and functional, brakes operating, wheels spinning true.
-
Dual safety levers: braking from the tops as well as the drops — friendlier for casual riding.
-
Alloy wheels: lighter and much better braking than the steel rims common on bikes of this age.
-
Upgraded saddle and good tires: the two things people usually replace first are already sorted.
-
Genuine steel ride: smooth and forgiving in a way modern budget bikes are not.

Sizing
At 18 inches this is a small frame, suiting shorter riders — roughly 5'0" to 5'4" as a general guide. If you have been struggling to find a vintage road bike small enough, this is worth a closer look, because most survivors are mid-to-large frames. Message us with your height and inseam and we will confirm the measurements before you order.
Condition Notes
This vintage Raleigh Capri is in solid, original pre-owned condition with typical cosmetic character from age and light use. The gloss black paint and factory decals — including the Raleigh 410 tubing sticker and U.S. Cycling Team badge — remain intact and legible, showing minor scuffs, light surface scratches, and small paint chips expected on a vintage steel frame.
The mechanical components, including the SunTour Hero 10-speed drivetrain, caliper brakes, and dual safety levers, are complete and functional. The upgraded Matrix Air-Flex saddle is comfortable and intact aside from two small cosmetic tears along the upper edge. The Kenda gumwall tires retain good tread, and the alloy wheels spin smoothly.
A tune-up is recommended before regular riding. Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the description.
Shipping & Local Pickup
Local pickup at our Miami location is strongly worth considering on this one. Freight on a full-size bicycle costs real money, and on a bike at this price it makes up a large share of the total. Collecting in person avoids it entirely — get in touch and we will set it up.
If you do need it shipped, it goes out freight, professionally packed. Questions about sizing, wheel size, or condition? Message us — we are happy to help.
